Just Read...

Catching Fire.

And if you haven't read The Hunger Games, by Suzanne Collins, put your computer down right now and go buy it.

I won't say much about the sequel, other than I was really anxious about it because of how amazing the first book was. But it definitely lived up to expectations. Don't know that it exceeded Hunger Games in my mind (not many, if any, books do), but it was still outstanding.

Just wish the third installment of the trilogy wasn't so far away.

I finished it a bit ago. LOVED IT.

It's not as good as The Hunger Games, but only because it's a unique, amazing experience getting to know the world and going through the games with that first read. That can't be duplicated.

That said, it didn't disappoint me at all. I think it actually exceeded what I was expecting. I did feel a little jarred at a couple points (I don't want to reveal any spoilers) but I can see they were necessary to move the story forward.

I'm curious to know which points jarred you, Casey. But yes, I agree that it was kind of theoretically impossible for Catching Fire to exceed Hunger Games in my book, but it did exceed my expectations. Just because I almost wanted Hunger Games to be its own stand-alone thing, since it was so good.

Okay. These books sound so morbidly gruesome to me, but you and Katie have now talked me into reading them . . . but not yet. I'm writing something so light and silly right now, I'd hate to spoil my mojo.

They are definitely intense, SF, but oh are they good. So good they stick in your mind even after you've finished.

Oh yes, couldn't agree with you more. RUN out and buy this book.

I'm the odd one out here, as I loved Catching Fire much more than Hunger Games, in part because the main character stopped being such a selfish twit.
