I've been bad about writing lately. After furiously writing to finish my book by Big Sur and to submit my partial, I got kinda burnt out. I don't think I've written anything since the beginning of December, actually. I could blame it on the fact that I'm still waiting to hear back from my partial, and I don't want to make any major changes until I hear something. I could, but the truth is that I've just been lazy. Ski season started, and I began to enjoy relaxing in my free time (who does that?), and I've hardly even thought of my book lately. And I must admit, it's been kinda nice. But it's not me.
Time to kick it back into gear. Nine was always my number in sports, so '09 is gonna be my year, right? I've never been one for new years' resolutions, but this fresh year is staring me in the face, and there's this new project I'm starting to get excited about and do some research for, and I'm getting motivated again! Plus, this new project is a little simpler (for now) and light-hearted (and shorter), so it should be lots of fun to work on. And I guess I could get a couple other queries ready, just in case, yeah?
Anyone else using the new year to start something exciting?

SF and I are using '09 to finish our screenplay. And I am starting a new YA - but it's been hard to narrow what I want to write about down. I have started probably 5 books and now I need to quit and pick one!
Isn't your submission a series? Have you worked on book two yet? How many are there gonna be?

So glad you are getting back on the writing train. Also glad to hear about your success in Big Sur. I knew it would go well.
Good luck on this new project...which one is it?? My goal for 2009 is to finally finish this YA, workshop it at the March Big Sur meeting, and have a contract by the end of the year. Too much to ask? I don't think so!

Yes, my submission is a series; I know the general story for it, but am waiting until number one gets picked up to write the second one. Who knows how much editors/agents might change it, and I don't want to be stuck with a MASSIVE rewrite for subsequent books.
You definitely need to pick one to finish! That can be detrimental to lots of writers, the shiny new exciting WIP, as opposed to the difficult, more-fleshed out old WIP.

Hola! It has been a while! That's definitely not too much to ask, I can envision that pen signing the contract right now.
This new one is my theme park series; as I've started brainstorming, I'm liking the characters already. And it'll be a much quicker project, I think.
